break
the rules
According to a study, disabled adults experience five times more psychological stress than people without disabilities.
This is due to society's perception of disabled people. We have all been guilty of ableism, myself included. And for most of us, this is not due to malice, but to a lack of understanding and insight into the lives of disabled people.
People with disabilities are often portrayed as helpless individuals who have been dealt a bad hand in life. I, too, was convinced that I had such a life. For years, I rejected my disability and was determined to live life as an able-bodied person.
Today, I know that this was mainly due to the negative ideas that society had instilled in me about being disabled and the “terrible” life that awaited me. Comments about the value of my life led me to believe for years that my life was worth less. And as a consequence, so was I.
After years of frustration and inner struggle, I am now grateful for this life. Because it has brought me to where I am today.
It took a process of rethinking until I understood that......
a disability is not synonymous with a bad life...
I am more than my disability...
there is also a world full of fun, adventure, love, and success for me

Sometimes it's hard to be disabled. In moments like these, it's important to talk openly with yourself about it. The more space I give to ALL my feelings and consciously acknowledge them, the more self-confident, pleasant, and fulfilling my life will be.
